LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers arrested a 24-year-old Camden man who allegedly fled the scene of a traffic stop early Thursday morning after an officer threatened to use a Taser on him, and he ran into a large bush and fell to the ground.

Carl Anthony Davis was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a misdemeanor evading arrest charge. He was released from the jail later Thursday.

According to the narrative of the police report, an LPD officer made a traffic stop on a Toyota Tundra driven by Davis at the Hidden Oaks apartment complex in the 3200 block of Daniel McCall Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. At that point, Davis allegedly jumped out of the pickup and fled on foot through the apartment complex.

The police report said that the officer chased Davis and threatened to use his Taser on him. When Davis turned around to look at the LPD officer, he ran into a large bush and fell to the ground, the report stated.

After Davis got up, the officer tackled him, the report stated.

Davis allegedly told police that he ran because already had a driving while intoxicated charge on his record, and he didn’t want any more. He was arrested and taken to the county jail without any further incident.
