NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 38-year-old man on an outstanding warrant Wednesday afternoon in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 9-year-old at a residence in the town on July 4th.
William Dwyan Johnson, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a child charge. No bail amount has been set at this time.
According to the arrest affidavit, a Nacogdoches Police officer talked to the child's mother at the police station late in the evening of July 4. She told the officer that her daughter had told her that Johnson had sexually assaulted her, the affidavit stated.
When the child's mother confronted Johnson and asked him if he had touched her daughter, he allegedly said, "It didn't happen like that." The mother then attempted to call 911, and Johnson disabled the phone before he fled the scene on a bicycle, the affidavit stated.
Later, the 9-year-old alleged victim was examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner, and the findings were consistent with recent sexual abuse, the affidavit stated.
Johnson was arrested with any further incident on Nacogdoches' Muller Street Wednesday afternoon and taken to the county jail.
