Flu Shot May Not Save Elderly Lives

by Jessica Cervantez

A new study says flu shots for the elderly may not be lifesavers.

Flu shots have been recommended for people 65 and older for many years. But, a new study suggests the death rate during the winter flu has stayed the same rather than going down.

After 30 years of studying, research has found the flu vaccine to be effective in the elderly, but more effective in younger people.

Researchers say vaccinating more schoolchildren may be the way to go, since young kids are the biggest spreaders of the virus.
