East Texans getting ready for Geeks, Games, and Gadgets this weekend

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

East Texans are getting ready for Geeks, Games ,and Gadgets this weekend in Nacogdoches.

Volunteers of the event held a game night Tuesday night to spread the word about the convention.

This year’s event is expected to bigger and better than before with a video game contest, several panels, and celebrity appearances from wrestler Booker T and The Walking Dead’s IronE Singleton.

The conventions coordinators are excited to bring such a unique event to East Texas.

"I know a lot of geeks are hiding out in the Pineywoods,” said Geeks Games and Gadgets volunteer James Stillwell. “A lot of people have to drive four or five hours to Dallas or Austin to the big conventions, and it's just nice to have one here in Nacogdoches.”

The convention kicks off Friday night at the Nacogdoches Expo Center beginning at 5 p.m. and going until midnight. Day two will pick back up Saturday at 10 a.m. running until midnight.

Tickets are still available at www.geeksgamesandgadgets.net
