SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) -

Life inside San Augustine County Sheriff's office is a lot dryer now than it had been last month when the county offices and the jail endured excessive condensation from the air conditioning system.

Sheriff David Smith called an engineer to see why so much water was leaking from the ventilation system.  An inspection revealed there were some leaks with the installed A-C units, as well some drain lines not working appropriately.

Chief Deputy Garry Cunningham said the excess water created a mess in their offices and the jail.

"It was really making a lot of water,” Cunningham recalled—now that he can laugh about it.  “We had buckets on the floors and on my desk and catching water.  But that's been corrected."

A local refrigeration company came in and completed the projects in a couple of days.

Now, staff and inmates are cool and dry
