San Augustine Main Street planning patriotic event for 9/11, mixed media art contest

SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) -

San Augustine Main Street is gearing up for a big event to honor first responders and emergency workers.  And organizers are now looking for artists to submit work for its Mixed Media Art Contest.

The Patriotic Main Street event will take place on the courthouse square.  Instead of honoring law enforcement, veterans, first responders at individual ceremonies, Main Street will recognize them all in one huge ceremony.  So, the art contest is part of the celebration.

Glenda Harrison, Main Street Advisory Board member said, "We're having a mixed media contest, which is to focus on again American Patriotic subject matter.  It could be 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional."

There are three categories for the art exhibit contest: one for adults and two for students.  Grades 7th through 9th in one category; 10th through 12th in the other.

The submission deadline for your art work is Friday, September 4th, 2015.

For more information on submission, call (936) 596-8411.
