NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Harley-Davidson enthusiasts will have a new place to feed their hobby in Nacogdoches. Texas Thunder Harley-Davidson has a new owner.

With it comes a new name and new future plans. At the same time, the Nacogdoches economy should receive a boost.

The Texas Thunder Harley-Davidson sign in Nacogdoches will come down, and it will soon be replaced with Adam Smith's Lumberjack Harley-Davidson. In biker circles, the largest Harley dealer in Texas brings in the customers.

"I like that,” One customer said.

 “It's a good feeling,” a salesman replied.

Calculated Risk is the company name. Recent purchases in Nacogdoches and Longview expands the group to five stores.

"Our plans for this store is to grow as rapid as we possibly can and become a real force in East Texas,” said Rob Edwards, the store’s general manager. “We'll probably be adding probably 13 team members to this location."

The majority of the existing staff transitioned to the new ownership, including longtime clothes manager Pam Hill.

"If you're going to ride it, wear it. There was no question I was going to stay on,” said Pam Hill, the motor clothes manager. “I've been a part of the Harley community for many, many, many years. And I'm very, very grateful that there is a Harley dealership in Nacogdoches. To have one in a small market is a huge thing."

The HOG chapter worked closely with the previous dealership's owners. That bond is already building with the new owners. They say community involvement is their focus.

"We don't charge dues to be in our HOG group, like most places do,” Edwards said. “We cover the dues. Very shortly, once we get the team built, we will be having events at the store every weekend."

Harley want-to-be owners, women, and mature lookers will likely show up. Enthusiasts warn, step into the Harley world, and you may not want to leave.

Positions are currently being filled. Lumberjack Harley-Davidson is expecting a grand opening sometime in September.
