SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The San Augustine County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve cracked the case as to why more than 30 buzzards are flocking to a property on County Road 101, and it’s not due to any type of corpse.

An investigator’s assessment as to what keeps luring the buzzards to that location is a hog pen, with two living hogs.

"And the buzzards were, I guess you can say, congregating in the area of the hog pen. And we've had no other complaints," Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham said with a chuckle.

The sheriff's office wanted to make certain there was nothing dead in the area that attracted the birds. The buzzards generally camp on and around the hog pen, including up in the trees.
