AUSTIN, TX (KTRE) -

State authorities have captured a man with Polk County ties who was recently added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, agents with Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Michael Dwayne Cox, at a Houston home without incident Monday.

The arrest was the result of a tip received through Texas Crime Stoppers, and a reward of up to $3,000 will be paid, the press release stated.

Cox was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child after an incident in Dallas County involving a 9-year-old female. He was sentenced to 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison.

Then in 2004, Cox was convicted in Harris County for possession of a controlled substance.

On September 24, 2013, the Polk County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Cox’s arrest for failure to register as a sex offender.
