Unique summer camp helps teenagers deal with anger and relationships

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Family Crisis Center of East Texas is hosting a unique camp this week to help teenagers develop good relationships as they mature.  It's the third annual Healthy Equitable Acceptable Relationships For Teens Camp.

The three-day camp is for 12- to 18-year-olds.  They learn how to recognize when they are getting angry and how to express their feelings in a respectful way.
Quinn Runnels, the camp facilitator, who is also a Primary Prevention Coordinator with The Family Crisis Center of East Texas said, "They can come up with these problem-solving strategies, which is something we go over.  Conflict resolution.  Learning how to channel your anger in a better way.  It's OK to get angry, but it's how you handle your anger."

The camp is for three days and costs only ten dollars.  The fee covers lunch and a snack every day.

If you want to enroll your teenager, you can register on site at the Woodland Heights Affinity Center  or call (936) 639-1681.
