LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - New changes on the way for cancer patients receiving radiation thanks to state-of-the-art equipment now at CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial in Lufkin.
Today, the hospital unveiled a new machine that will help doctors deliver radiation therapy to their patients, in a fraction of the time, often in less than five minutes.
The new process also allows for fewer side effects from radiation.
The machine is equipped with a CT scanner, allowing for the multiple procedures to be completed all on one machine.
The new equipment cost CHI St. Luke's $4.5 million.
