SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) - The San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce in is gearing up for a milestone Sassafras Festival. This year will be the 25th year for the event, and the chamber plans to push the festival to two days.
The organizing committee plans to do a half day on Friday, which will include a comical theatre production.
"[We're going to do a play that depicts what has sort of happened, kind like a little comical trial out of it and depict what has happened in the last 25 years here in San Augustine County," Chamber President Waldo Dalchau shared with the commissioner's court.
If approved by the commissioner's court, the play would take place inside the courthouse. All the other festivities will take place out on the downtown square.
The 25th Annual Sassafras Festival is scheduled for Friday, October 23rd through Saturday, October 24th.
