NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

After months of hard work and little waiting thanks to Mother Nature, Splash Kingdom Timber Falls in Nacogdoches was ecstatic to open their doors to the public for the first time.

"It feels awesome, said regional manager Jared Troutman. We're just so excited to be open and it's been a long time coming. It's a beautiful day and a wonderful crowd and we are pumped!"

Splash Kingdom staff weren't the only ones that we're pumped about the opening. Around 450 customers came out today and were pretty impressed by the park.

 "I love it,
said Henderson resident Savannah Gough. It is an awesome environment for kids and it's so fun!"

"It's pretty amazing to us,
said Nacogdoches resident Brandi Gloyna. They have stuff for bigger kids and then stuff for the smaller kids and it's really nice."

Although there is a bigger location in Canton about 120 miles north, Deep East Texas residents are glad for the convenience of this park.

"I mean Nacogdoches has nothing,
Gloyna said. It's hard to travel with our kids, so something in our hometown is great, we're pretty blessed for this."

"It's convenient for sure and we can come whenever because it's so close. Gough said.

Splash Kingdom Timber Falls was inspired by the positive reaction so far and hopes that park can continue to grow and get even better

"We're just excited to continue to grow our customer base and let people know that we're here and we're ready for you to come on into splash Kingdom and cool off," Troutman said.

The Community Food Drive in Lufkin is special to some because of the large amount of people it brings together from all walks of life.  "It's just like so many different people, very diverse," said volunteer, Priscilla Gonzalez. "It's just kind of cool to see all these people coming together to do one thing." For others, like Keith Kennedy, it's all about the service being provided to the greater community. "They're in miracle territory,...More >>
