TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a Trinity couple on a variety of felony charges after their vehicle rolled over near the Lake L subdivision late Tuesday night, resulting in serious injuries to their two young boys.

Joseph Collier, 34, and Melissa Thrasher, 32, were both arrested and charged with felony reckless injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. Collier was also charged with felony intoxicated assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and felony possession of a controlled substance.

In addition, Thrasher was charged with a misdemeanor theft charge out of Walker County.

According to the Trinity Police Department, Collier lost control of the vehicle as he was leaving the Lake L subdivision and crashed. The couple’s two sons, ages 4 and 5, were in the vehicle when the wreck occurred.

The youngest son was airlifted from the scene from a helicopter that put down at a landing zone that had been set up at Westwood Shores. Collier and the oldest boy were transported by ambulance to East Texas Medical Center-Trinity, according to the Trinity Police Department. Thrasher was not injured in the crash.

The oldest son was later flown to a Houston hospital for treatment as well.
