LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - There's nothing quite like driving a monster truck.
"It's wild," said monster truck driver Chris Trussell. "Like driving a Cadillac, you just hit jumps and take off and hold on."
People love Monster Truck shows, especially in East Texas. So Dillon Fenley decided to bring the East Texas Monster Spectacular to Lufkin
"We've been putting on our shows for the past couple of years," said Fenley. "My cousin and all my family lives here in town, so Mike Stevens from the Hudson Fire Department called me and said I might be able to do a show here."
There have been monster truck shows in Lufkin in the past.
"I know there's been a lot of bad shows so were trying to bring in a good one," Fenley said.
Fenley and company have put together a professional show, consisting of several events such as a wheelie contest, lawn mower races, Jo- Jo the clown, and of course, six world class monster trucks.
"The main thing is the quality of trucks, that's what is going to set the bar," Trussell said. "We've got six of the best truck in the United States here."
In fact, one the trucks is a ride-along vehicle, giving East Texans the chance to see what it's like to actual be on board.
"They actually get to sit in the back and ride around the track the monster trucks go on," Fenley said.
Fenley hopes the show will be a success and that the people of Lufkin come out and enjoy all of the monstrous fun.
"Hopefully it turns out great," Fenley said. "Hopefully we'll be able to come back next year and put on an even better show."
Tickets are still available for Saturday night's show at the Angelina County Expo Center box office.
