Junior College Enrollment Increasing

by Jessica Cervantez

More students are attending junior colleges these days. Over the past several years, enrollment numbers at junior colleges have been going up much faster than at four-year universities.

The president of Angelina College in Lufkin is not surprised by the trend.

Larry Phillips, said, "They are right in every community, and it is cutting cost by spending the first two years close to home and avoiding the expense of going ways to college."

Texas is predicted to have about a million more college-aged students by the year 2040. And more than half of those potential college students will likely be Hispanic.
