HUNTSVILLE, TX (KTRE) - A Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate who was convicted of robbery in Nacogdoches in 2008 was found hanging in his cell at the Estelle Unit in Huntsville Tuesday night.
Robert C. Hurst said Jervinky Waters, 31, of Nacogdoches, was discovered hanging from a light fixture in his cell with a sheet tied around his neck at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Guards at the Estelle Unit quickly cut him down and started life-saving measures. EMS personnel arrived at 8:55 p.m. and continued working to save Waters' life. Hurst said EMS personnel pronounced Waters dead at 9:20 p.m. Monday.
Waters started his 12-year sentence for the robbery conviction on June 23, 2008.
