NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 59-year-old man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly punched his pregnant 22-year-old wife in the stomach and threatened to cut her throat with a knife after they had an argument about another man fathering her child.

Harold Lee Page, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, a Class A misdemeanor unlawful restraint charge, and a Class A misdemeanor interfering with an emergency call charge. Collectively, his bail has been set at $20,000.

According to the arrest affidavit, Nacogdoches Police officers were dispatched to Fredonia Apartments, which is located in the 100 block of East Seale Street, in reference to a disturbance involving weapons at about 1:33 a.m. Wednesday.

Dispatch told the officers that a third-party caller had reported that a woman was being hurt at her residence. When the NPD officers arrived on the scene, they heard screaming from inside the apartment. They made contact with Page at the front door and took him into custody.

After the officers investigated further, they learned that Page and his wife had gotten into an argument over her being pregnant by another man. The affidavit stated that the woman said she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him anymore, and Page punched her in the stomach while she was sitting on a couch in the living.

At that point, Page allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and approached his wife. He told her that he was going to cut her throat with a knife and kill her, the affidavit stated.

According to the affidavit, before the alleged assault occurred, the victim had been on the phone with another person, and she didn’t hang it up. When she threatened to call the police, Page allegedly grabbed the phone and hid it under a mattress in the bedroom.

The anonymous person who was still on the line called 911.

Page forced his wife into the bedroom, turned off all the lights, and physically restrained her against the wall, the affidavit stated. Upon the NPD officers’ arrival, the victim attempted to scream, and Page allegedly forced her to put her fingers in her mouth.

Page was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
