NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Beloved East Texas pastor Chris Rodgers passed away peacefully on Wednesday after battling cancer over the past year in Gilmer, Texas.
In February, Rodgers and his family hosted a community event at Stephen F. Austin State University called "FINISH STRONG", to share his testimony and to inspire the East Texas community.
His doctor gave him 7 months to live, however he exceeded that, and went on to live for four more months.
Instead of sending flowers, Rodgers' family is asking for a donation in his honor to his non-profit organization: Neighbors to Nations. They'll be taking a trip to Kenya, where they will be releasing his ashes.
KTRE Summer intern Jaquara Anderson contributed to this story.
