32-year-old Spurger man dies in Tyler Co. ATV accident

A 32-year-old Spurger man died as a result of a one-vehicle accident involving an all-terrain vehicle that occurred in Tyler County early Sunday morning.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public, the crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road 4550 near Spurger in Tyler County.

A 2014 Suzuki King Quad ATV was traveling west on CR 4550 about one mile east of FM 92 when David Wesley Jordan, the driver, rounded a sharp curve at an unsafe speed. After the vehicle left the roadway and went into the woods, Jordan was ejected from the ATV.

Justice of the Peace Gregory Dawson pronounced Jordan dead at the scene. Jordan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and he was the only person on the ATV, the press release stated.
