East Texas leaders honored at Community Impact Awards

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (News Release) -

The 5th annual Community Impact Award of East Texas Gala was held at the S. F. A. Grand Ballroom and it was a very special night of recognition of those that have made a lasting difference in the area of East Texas’ Forest Country.

The event was held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of KSWP and KAVX Christian radio stations.

The Community Impact Awards East Texas recognizes people and organizations that have a remarkable impact on their community, giving back on a daily basis.  Mike Love & Associates in Lufkin was the recipient of the Community Impact Award for outstanding Business of the Year. Their team serves the East Texas area by ethically practicing law and assisting many organizations including but not limited to Buckner Family Place, Cattle Barons Gala, Leadership Lufkin, Stubblefield Learning Center, & Lufkin ISD.  The Family Crisis Center of East Texas was the recipient of the Community Impact Award for outstanding Non-Profit of the Year. The agency exemplifies outstanding service by means of safety, prevention, education, awareness, and intervention to survivors of family violence.

Sabrina Collins was the recipient of the Community Impact Award for outstanding Volunteer of the Year. Sabrina motivates others to serve their community through her whole heartiness and tireless volunteer efforts throughout the East Texas community. And lastly, Dr. Sid Roberts was the recipient of the Community Impact Award for outstanding Philanthropist of the Year.  Dr. Sid Roberts has made a difference in the surrounding communities through his passion and resources to public health, higher education, the arts, and community development.

A special accolade was presented to Dwyan and Vera Calvert, founders of KSWP and KAVX Christian Radio in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the radio stations.  The co-founders were awarded the Eternal Spirit award in honor of their continued efforts of the sharing the gospel of Christ.
