NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Volunteers and donors kicked off the 2016 campaign for the Nacogdoches United Way looks to Dream Big in 2016.
The organization kicked off its 2016 campaign season Tuesday night at Banita Creek Hall in downtown Nacogdoches. This year the group is honoring SFA Men's Basketball Coach Brad Underwood. In 2015, Underwood won $10,000 for the group after his involvement with the ESPN/Infiniti Coaches Challenge.
"It allowed me to get outside of the realm of a gymnasium, a coliseum dealing with teenagers and really able to give something back to our community," Underwood said. "Nacogdoches is a wonderful community and there's nothing greater than the United Way."
New this year to the campaign is the promotion of a large project from one of the partner agencies. The United Way will be building a new facility for Helping Other People Eat (HOPE) and constructing a new classroom facility for The Helping House.
