TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Trinity duo is behind bars for the second time since May in connection to an arson case.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, 34 year-old Melissa Mackey and 18 year-old Brett Morgan were both arrested on different charges over the last week.
In May, Mackey and Morgan were arrested after two homes were burnt to the ground. Mackey, whose parents owned one of the mobile homes, had given her an eviction notice following an argument.
After the argument Mackey, Morgan and the juvenile planned to burn the residence according to Cole.
"In our investigation, we were told by Mackey that she wanted to burn the house down because her stepfather was in the home and that he had been inappropriate with her children," Wallace said. "The sheriff's office investigated the claim and found that to be false."
Wallace said late last week, his office stopped by Mackey's home and found Mackey and Morgan inside. According to Wallace, part of Mackey's bond was that Morgan could not be with her.
"We found drugs in the home and there were children inside as well," Wallace said. "We called in CPS and the children were removed. Morgan was also arrested on drug charges."
Wallace said soon after the incident he started to receive threats from Mackey on social media.
"We went back and looked at her interview and found a spot where she said she wanted to kill her stepfather and that's why she got Morgan and another minor to burn down the homes."
Wallace said Mackey will now face criminal solicitation charges. Bond will be determined Friday morning
