Plans to resume production at the Abitibi paper mill in Lufkin are moving forward. A tax incentive package for Abitibi's project will be proposed to the Angelina County commissioners court.
The court will consider for approval the tax incentive package presented by the economic development partnership. Abitibi representatives and city officials have less than sixty days to work on a recommendation that would reopen the plant.
It would bring back more than 450 employees.
Last week, Lufkin city leaders and Abitibi representatives went to Austin to discuss state funding.
