Bald Eagle Sighted

by Donna McCollum

American bald eagles often pick East Texas lakes and reservoirs to nest or hang out for the winter. But rarely are they seen one block off South Street in Nacogdoches. A bald eagle was seen this weekend on Fredonia Street. The bird was flying back and forth from Fredonia Elementary to a resident's front yard.

This eagle was more than willing to pose for a few pictures for KTRE's Promotion Manager Mike Wiggins. Find his photo at

About one thousand bald eagles migrate to Texas each year.
