HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A trooper with DPS has arrested a Grapeland man accused of driving drunk while leaving his grandsons home alone Thursday night.

Bobby Albright Rush, 63, is charged with Class B DWI and state-jail felony abandoning a child.

According to a DPS report, a Houston County trooper stopped Rush's 2013 Dodge pickup on US 287, approximately three miles south of Grapeland, for a traffic violation.

The trooper said Rush had an odor of alcohol on his breath and was arrested for DWI. The trooper said Rush said he had been in Crockett for several hours and left his two grandsons, aged 9 and 4, alone at his home.

The trooper asked Grapeland police to check the home and the children were released to another adult.
