No one injured when LPD patrol unit rear-ends Lufkin fire truck

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

No one was injured when a Lufkin Police Department patrol unit rear-ended a Lufkin fire truck on Frank Street Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release, the accident occurred about 2:29 p.m. Wednesday under the railroad underpass on Frank Street. Both city vehicles were responding to a one-vehicle crash that had just occurred.

Both vehicles were eastbound on Frank Street when the accident occurred.

The preliminary accident report indicated that the Larry Christensen, the 35-year-old driver of the fire truck slowed down as it approached the scene of the wreck to avoid debris that was in the roadway.

“The Police vehicle was following the fire truck and failed to control speed and subsequently struck the fire truck from behind, causing minor damage,” the press release stated.

The press release stated that Zachary Klein, 21, was the driver of the LPD patrol unit.
