Verdict Finds Eizember Guilty

by Jessica Cervantez

It took a jury less than six hours to find 42-year-old Scott Eizember guilty on one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder in the deaths of an Oklahoma couple.

Eizember led police on a month-long manhunt that ended in East Texas.

Originally, Eizember was accused of first-degree murder in both deaths. Jurors lessened the charge for the death of Patsy Cantrell.

He was also convicted with two counts of burglary and a shooting with an attempt to kill assault.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the first-degree murder charge.

The punishment phase is expected to begin Wednesday morning.
