On Monday, Nacogdoches County authorities searched for a home intruder that broke into a house in the Garrison area and later fled on foot.
Bridges said a teenage girl reported waking up around 5 a.m. Monday morning and going to the bathroom. When she did so, she found a man standing in the room. Startled, the child yelled for help, and her mother ran into the room and challenged the suspect, who then ran from the home and was last seen headed toward US 59 on foot, according to a press release.
Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene and set up a perimeter, and NCSO investigators joined them a short time later, the press release stated. Texas Department of Criminal Justice tracking dogs from Huntsville were brought in to assist with the search.
The suspect was not found during a search of the area. The press release said it is possible that the man left the area in a vehicle or by some other means of transport.
Bridges said they are looking for a white man with a medium to heavy build who stands 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-6-inches tall. He has a beard and is wearing athletic shorts, a dark-colored shirt, and shoes. The press release also said the man was wearing a mask, and that he said his name is Brad.
Bridges said they will conduct more interviews and continue to investigate the case.
