LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - This weekend, KTRE-TV will celebrate 60 years of being on the air in the Pineywoods.
We've selected 4 winners for our '60th Anniversary Giveway', one of which is the Winnie Berry Humane Society of Angelina County.
The society is a non-profit "no kill" animal shelter, which strives to stop the suffering and death of unwanted pets. They also strive to improve animal care and welfare along with shelter and support to homeless animals.
"We want to adopt out as many cats and dogs out in this county, we have thousands and thousands of them. So to have any source of media that we cannot afford as a non-profit organization is just a tremendous boost to the shelter, to our animals first and foremost, but also to our community," said Mona Hill, Winnie Berry Humane Society.
Of course, this is all leading up to our 60th birthday party on August 29th from 11 am - 3pm at KTRE Studios off Highway 69 on 358 TV Road.
You'll be able to take a tour of our studio, meet the KTRE anchors, and there will be free food and activities for kids.
