TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Trinity County authorities have arrested a man accused of beating his wife and leaving a five-month-old baby home alone after doing so.

Justin Wayne Young, 34, of Trinity, is charged with second-degree abandoning a child and second-degree assault family violence.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Indian Drive in reference to an assault. When the deputy arrived a woman said her husband, Young, had been drinking and got in an argument with her over sex. She said he began hitting her in the front yard, threw her on the ground, slammed her head on a big table in the yard and choked her three times.

She said he stopped the assault when a car drove by and that gave her a chance to run away to a neighbor's house.

According to the report, the deputy escorted the woman back to her house but Young was not home, but a five-month-old baby was. The determined Young had left the baby home alone.

Young was arrested on the warrants in Harris County and taken to the Trinity County Jail on Friday.
