SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office arrested a 33-year-old man on Monday in connection to allegations that he made a number of lewd requests to a 13-year-old girl via cell phone.
"The details in this crime are very egregious in nature," Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office said.
Lyndall Curtis Johnson is being held in the San Augustine County jail on a second-degree felony online solicitation of a minor charge. His bail amount has been set at $100,000.
"The girl has been traumatized by this man," Cunningham said.
Cunningham said Johnson was arrested at a home on Farm Road 3409 at about 8 p.m. He said the sheriff's office was contacted about the alleged online solicitation on Monday, and their investigation turned up enough evidence for them to obtain an arrest warrant.
"The investigation revealed sufficient information and sufficient probable cause to warrant the issuance of an arrest warrant for Johnson," Cunningham said.
Without going into much detail, Cunningham said that Johnson propositioned the 13-year-old girl for sex on numerous occasions "in the most graphic and obscene way." The girl's parents reported the lewd messages after they gained access to a cell phone belonging to the girl's older brother.
When the SACSO deputies arrived on the scene to serve the arrest warrant, they knocked on the door several times, but Johnson didn't respond. Cunningham said the deputies had reason to believe that a seven-year-old girl was inside the residence with Johnson.
Johnson's wife provided the SACSO deputies with the sledge hammer they used to get into the home.
"She's been very cooperative with law enforcement, she understands the seriousness of the offense, and she does not condole it in anyway," Cunningham said.
Johnson was arrested at the scene and taken to the San Augustine County Jail.
