LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin's First Baptist Church will open its doors on Friday to offer a place of peace while the country remembers fallen Deputy Darren Goforth.
The church will open the sanctuary starting at 10:30 a.m. and will keep them open until noon.
"We want the community to come out and support law enforcement," Interim Pastor Tim Watson said. "It lets people get away from the business and get to a quiet place. It is the best way we can honor our first responders."
Watson said there will not be an official service and it will be come and go.
