1 man airlifted to Tyler hospital after 2-vehicle head-on collision in Houston Co.

HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A violent head-on collision between a pickup and a dump truck about five miles north of Crockett Thursday afternoon resulted in one person being airlifted to a Tyler hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety stated that Houston County DPS troopers were dispatched out to a two-vehicle crash that had occurred about five miles north of Crockett on FM 229 at approximately 3:41 p.m. Thursday.

According to the preliminary accident report, Jason Omelina, 34, of Crockett, was driving a 2015 Dodge pickup south on FM 229 when he crossed the center line and struck at 2005 Mack dump truck driven by Arsby Robins, 52, also of Crockett. The dump truck was towing a trailer when the accident occurred.

Omelina was airlifted to Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler for treatment of his injuries. Robins was not injured in the wreck.

The collision is still under investigation at this time.
