Citizens Encouraged To Attend Town Hall Meeting

Asst. Superintendent Johnny Giles Asst. Superintendent Johnny Giles

by Ramonica R. Jones

The Lufkin school district will talk about its future at a town hall meeting next week.  Administrators say the meeting will give parents, students, and community leaders a chance to voice their concerns about education in Lufkin.

District officials will provide information on any changes, improvements, and leadership in the LISD.  This is just another example of the district's ongoing commitment to working with the community.

Assistant Superintendent Johnny Giles said, "It takes all of us to raise our children.  We try to communicate what's going on in Lufkin schools and make sure we're getting their input to see exactly where we need to go.  [It's] just an attempt [at] communication between the community, all the parents, guardians, and the school because all of us have to work together to educate our future generation."

Everyone is invited to the town hall meeting.  It starts at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the HOPE Center in Lufkin.
