LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An off-duty Lufkin Police officer and another person detained a 23-year-old man Thursday night after he allegedly threatened to "whoop" the "[expletive]" of the officer at a children's baseball game at Morris Frank Park.
Hever Arambula, of Diboll, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony retaliation charge and a Class C misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. Collectively, his bail amount has been set at $8,000.
According to the Lufkin Police Department's daily activity report, the incident occurred at about 8:06 p.m. Thursday night. During the baseball game, Arambula allegedly started cursing at his child's coach after the man yelled at his child and told him to get back to the dugout.
The off-duty LPD officer, who was at the game to watch his own child play, told Arambula to leave, the activity report stated. At that point, Arambula allegedly began cursing the officer.
When the off-duty officer identified himself as a policeman and again told Arambula to leave and walk into the parking lot, Arambula told the officer that he would "whoop" his "[expletive]."
The off-duty LPD officer and another person detained Arambula until an on-duty officer arrived to take him to jail.
