Report: Intoxicated Nacogdoches woman drove recklessly with child in car

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 34-year-old woman on a driving while intoxicated with a child charge after she was allegedly seen driving recklessly on County Road 302 early Monday evening.

Angelia Kay Smith, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County jail on a state-jail felony DWI with a child under the age of 15 charge, a state-jail felony evading arrest with a vehicle charge, and a Class A misdemeanor deadly conduct charge.

According to the narrative on the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s daily activity report, NCSO deputies were dispatched out to the 700 block of CR 302 at about 5:30 p.m. to check on a report of a woman driving recklessly with a child in the vehicle with her.

When the deputies stopped Smith’s car, she showed signs of being intoxicated, and she refused to identify herself, the report stated. A child was found in the vehicle with her.

After Smith was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, she was taken to the county jail.
