ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Responsive firefighters managed to keep a fire which destroyed a shed from spreading too far Tuesday afternoon on State 103, west of Lufkin.
Hudson VFD Assistant Chief Jeff Barker said someone called 911 around 3:20 p.m. because they saw smoke coming from behind a house on the 4700 block of State Highway 103.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a shed behind the house fully engulfed. The fire spread to some hay and dry grass nearby.
Barker said they did not know how the fire started, but he noted two big burn piles in the area.
"This shows why there is a burn ban," Barker said. "You have dry grass and humidity and wind that can kick a fire up."
Hudson and Central VFDs responded to the fire.
