NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Deep East Texas is known for its Pineywoods and timber.

For East Texas timber producers, the perfect opportunity to learn about their options for managing timber is coming up.

A workshop will be held a week from today in Nacogdoches.

Participants will be taken to several timber tracts to see firsthand how proper management can help pay off in the long run.

"These timber stands range from pine stands to hardwood stands to a mix of hardwoods and pines, so we can just talk about different operations that can be managed in these timber stands, as well as proper management,” said John Miles, an AgriLife extension agent.

After the farm visits, lectures from forestry experts will take place. It's all at the AgriLife Office in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex. If you can, sign up by tomorrow so they'll have a headcount.
