Lufkin woman allegedly hit, injured roommate's grandmother with cane

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 60 year-old woman after she went to a neighbor’s house to pick up her things, took the woman’s cane away from her, hit her with it, causing injuries to the senior citizen’s left hand and arm.

Devi Elizabeth Pike, 60, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree injury to the elderly charge. Her bail amount was set at $5,000.

Capt. Alton Lenderman with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office said that on Friday, deputies went to Kenner Street and talked to a senior citizen that said that her grandson was living next with Pike.

The alleged victim told the deputies that she had been letting Pike store some of her property at her house. She said that she called Pike several days in an effort to come get her things, and when she didn’t, she Pike’s things in her yard.

Then when Pike entered the alleged victim’s home, the senior citizen tried to hit her with her cane. At that point, Pike took the cane away from her and hit her with it, causing injuries to her left hand and arm, Lenderman said.
