LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin Police Department has released the name of the man airlifted to a Tyler hospital following a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 94 Wednesday afternoon.

Jessica Pebsworth, a spokeswoman for the Lufkin Police Department, said that Robert Allen Stage, 66, of Lufkin, was airlifted to a Tyler hospital for treatment of his injuries, which included a possible broken leg. Stage was airlifted by helicopter from the scene of the accident.

Stage was driving a GMC pickup west on Highway 94 when he tried to turn left onto Regal Row and turned into the path of an ongoing Kia Sorento driven by Brandon Carver, 19, of Lufkin, Pebsworth said.

Traffic was stopped for a short period of time while the helicopter landed at the scene to pick up Stage.

A spokeswoman for East Texas Medical Center-Tyler said Stage is listed in good condition.
