NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Students of many cultures from SFA dressed in their finest clothes for an evening of elegance tonight.
The university's Office of Multicultural Affairs hosted it's first-ever Garden Party earlier this evening at Pecan Park in Nacogdoches.
The goal was to allow students the opportunity to experience a positive, upscale event rather than just the typical college party.
"I wanted students to really enjoy something that people think is just upscale and maybe they don't feel is for them and I'm letting them know it's for them. They can have an upscale event," said Dr. Osaro Airen, director of multicultural affairs at SFA.
Tonight's garden party also allowed students to showcase a wide array of talent amongst a diverse crowd of their peers.
Event organizers say they plan to host a similarly-styled party in the spring.
