LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin high school graduate was shot to death Wednesday morning while leaving a club in San Antonio. 26-year-old Ganiyu Odunsi moved from Lufkin five years ago to go to college. According to reports from an ABC affiliate, the San Antonio police are looking for the two men who drove off in a silver SUV.
Family members said they are still in shock.
"I actually got a phone call from my cousin saying he got killed in San Antonio," Omar Terry, the victims cousin said.
Relatives of Odunsi described him as a person with an outgoing personality, and not the type to get involved in altercations.
"I mean he was just fun to be around," Terry said. "He wasn't the type of person to start trouble. He didn't go looking for problems, he didn't start problems. He was an outgoing person to be around."
Early Wednesday after attempting to leave a nightclub in San Antonio the unthinkable happened. Odunsi was fatally shot.
"Just to shoot somebody because they looked at you wrong, that's kind of sad," Terry said. "I just hope that they find the person that did it."
Odunsi's sudden death has made some family members realize how life can be short.
"Since he left Lufkin I haven't seen him in a long time," Terry said. "It was like wow, I didn't get to see him before he." Terry said as he looked down. "It just hurt."
Terry said he'll keep Odunsi alive through memories.
"We used to go to Brandon Elementary and we used to race from Brandon School all the way to the cross walk," Terry said.
The family is now struggling to pay for his funeral and are asking for people to donate to a Gofundme account.
"Everybody that know him know the type of person he was, so help with what you can," Terry said.
