HEMPHILL, TX (KTRE) - A 48-year-old Pineland man accepted a plea bargain deal of 15 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison in exchange for pleading guilty to two felony child-sex charges.
Sabine County Sheriff Tommy Maddox said Bobby Dean Elliott appeared in court Friday morning for a plea hearing. He was sentenced to 15 years for an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge and 10 years for an indecency with a child charge, and Maddox said Elliott will be serving the two prison terms concurrently, or at the same time.
In August, 2014, Elliott was indicted on seven felony child-sex charges. When he was arrested, his bail amount was set at $1.1 million.
According to the text of one of the indictments, Elliott is accused of molesting a girl under the age of 14 numerous times from Dec. 13, 1995 to Dec. 12, 2001. Another of the indictments alleges that Elliott sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 14 on multiple occasions from December 1990 to Dec. 12, 1995.
Another of the aggravated sexual assault of a child indictments states that Elliott molested a girl from Nov. 14, 1998 to Nov. 13, 2004. The fourth aggravated sexual assault of a child charge gives a date range of March 24 to March 23 2010, and the fifth one gives a date range of May 19 to May 19, 2014.
The indictment for the prohibited sexual conduct alleges that offense occurred between Dec. 13, 1990 and Dec. 12, 1995. According to the indecency with a child indictment, Elliott is accused of inappropriately touching a young girl in a period from May 13, 2002 to May 12, 2003.
Deputies with the Sabine County Sheriff's Office arrested Elliott back in June after a now-16-year-old girl made an outcry and said that Elliott had sexually assaulted her.
