Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Wheel thieves

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - Investigators have asked for Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers' help in identifying two tire and rim thieves, and Crime Stoppers wants to pay a reward for information that helps solve the crime and puts the thieves in jail.

On September 16, a security camera mounted outside a residence in the 1300 block of California Boulevard in Lufkin captured these four images of two criminals in different stages of stealing the wheels from a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence.

Both of the thieves appear to be white men, and, if the color reproduction of the camera is correct, both wore chartreuse-colored shirts and brown or tan shorts. The rims they stole are chrome, factory-style for a Chrysler Pacifica.

The crime occurred on a residential street at 2 p.m. on a Wednesday, and it is likely that someone saw the vehicle the thieves drove. The thieves' color choice for clothing also makes it likely that someone will recognize them. Submit your anonymous tip right away because Crime Stoppers can only pay a reward to a tip that leads to an arrest and that will be the first, most accurate tip received.

If you know the identity of these criminals or know the location of the stolen property, call Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip online at Crime Stoppers calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a reward if the information you provide leads to an arrest.
