CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - An officer with the Crockett Police Department has been placed on administrative leave in connection to allegations that he assaulted a person "whom he had a dating relationship" with, according to a press release.
"Officer Wadell Smith is currently on administrative leave from the Crockett Police Department," the press release stated. "He is alleged to have been involved in a family violence assault incident with a person whom he had a dating relationship."
Chief David Cross said that the Crockett Police Department is conducting a complete and thorough investigation into possible administrative policy violations. He also said that the Texas Rangers are investigating the criminal allegations.
