GRAPELAND, TX (KTRE) -

The city of Grapeland could soon be looking for a new police chief.

According to a city council agenda sent to KTRE, the council is set to consider and possibly approve the resignation/retirement of Chuck Franklin.

On Sept. 8, the council agreed to allow Franklin to have a medical leave of absence. Since then officer Kyle Duren has stepped in as acting chief. Franklin took over as chief after the former chief, John Smith, was fired in April 2013. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Grapeland City Hall.
