LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Huntington woman who has been in the hospital for over a week with the West Nile Virus is expected to make a full recover, according to her husband.
David Jones said his wife, Diane Jones, is expected to make a full recovery and has started to even speak again after having not been able to for a week.
He said her heart rate is stable, kidneys are functioning and her motor skills are good.
Jones is the first case of West Nile Virus in Angelina County, according to health authorities.
"She's been fighting, man," her husband said. "You wouldn't believe a mosquito could do that."
Jones said his wife at first went to the hospital more than two weeks ago and was diagnosed a week later with the virus.
A case of the neuro-invasive disease was also reported by the state on Tuesday.
