LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Haunted houses, spooky decorations, and costumes galore. It can only mean one thing, it's Halloween time here in the Pineywoods.
Everyone is getting into the spirit, by coming into Spirit, the Halloween hotspot in town.
"Two to three weeks leading up to Halloween, when it hits October, the season starts and people come in," said Spirit assistant manager Johnna Gresham. "They get in that Halloween Spirit."
This years trends are pretty interesting.
There are some traditional favorites like witches and superheroes.
However, it seems a lot of this year's trends are going off of popular television shows, like Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black and another popular favorite.
"I'm probably going to be the clown on American Horror Story because it's my favorite show," said one customer.
Going off of the television theme, thanks to shows like The Walking Dead, a popular choice this year is zombies."
"I want to be a zombie so I can scare a lot of people," said one excited customer.
There are also some pop culture references in the mix like some prominent presidential candidates and emojis.
One of the most talked about people of the year is one of the most talked about costumes of the year.
"Bruce Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner costumes are one of our new one this year," Gresham said. "It's been getting a lot of attention."
According to Spirit Halloween, people can donate to Spirit of Children when they purchase their Halloween costumes. The money goes to Shriner's Hospital and gives the kids there a Halloween.
