The push to reopen the Abitibi paper mill in Lufkin could soon be getting support from the education community.
The plan is already receiving support from the county, city, and other entities.
Now, Abitibi is expecting a letter of support from Angelina College. The Lufkin Independent School District will also write a letter of support for the plan. The district will not be asked to commit to any funding of the project until a decision is made about school finances.
The application for state assistance will be finalized and sent to the Governor's Office for Economic Development.
